Glasgow 850 celebrations

11 October 2025

As part of the Glasgow 850 celebrations we chose to commemorate two important figures on the post-war Glasgow arts scene, the painter and sculptor J.D. Fergusson and the choreographer and dancer Margaret Morris, who made their home at 4 Clouston Street.

With financial support from the City Council we commissioned two memorial plaques to be installed on the building.

We’re delighted to say that the official unveiling of the plaques will take place on Saturday 1 November at 12 noon. The ceremony will be conducted by the Lord Provost and we will have some refreshments afterwards, thanks to the generosity of Roger Billcliffe, chairperson of the JD Fergusson Art Foundation, and the current owners of our dedicatees’ flat. To give an idea of numbers, please email Christine Alison (NKCCsecretary@gmail.com) if you would like to attend.
