Kelbourne Street building site

11 October 2025

Work has finally started on the site of the student accommodation development on Kelbourne Street beside the Happy Park. The contractor (CCG) told us they plan to minimise inconvenience to residents as much as possible. They have issued a newsletter that contains more details about the plans and the site working hours. It’s on our QMD noticeboard or you can download it from the CCG website.

Will this development have dedicated parking spaces?
The skyline height of the structure appears higher than all neighbouring properties.
I assume this was approved at planning consent stages.
    Another green space gone sadly

Thanks for your comment. The development won’t have dedicated parking spaces and residents will not be entitled to apply for a parking permit. There were many local objections to the proposed building because of its height and position beside the playpark, but planning consent was granted on appeal.
