Community Council election September 2019
The 4-yearly election to North Kelvin Community Council takes place in September. Could you fill one of the 13 vacancies?
We hold 10 meetings a year on the first Tuesday of the month (no scheduled meeting in July or December). At meetings we discuss council business such as local planning applications, hear reports from our City Councillors and the local police, and provide a forum for residents to raise concerns. The term of office is 4 years.
The community council is non-party-political and all members are volunteers.
Our aim is to improve our local community and to transmit community opinion to Glasgow City Council. We want to make local democracy work for North Kelvin and make this an even better place to live!
These are some of the issues that we have discussed recently:
- the new school & related concerns over traffic management and trees
- the proposed parking zone
- the Queen Margaret Drive improvements
- antisocial behaviour
- back lanes
- planning (eg Curves, the Wilton St gap site)
- HMO licensing
- local transport
You can find out more about how community councils work on the GCC website.
Full details of how to apply are in the nomination form (see below), but feel free to contact us with any questions.
