Latest plan for 10 Kelbourne Street

Here are our draft comments on this latest planning application for Kelbourne Street (22/03218/FUL). If you would like to comment on the application, please note the closing date to send your comments to the City Council is Monday 6 February 2023.

North Kelvin Community Council welcomes the opportunity to comment on the application for the site formerly known as 10 Kelbourne Street (22/03218/FUL).

We note that the current application is for 7 flats rather than 10 (reference the previous application 21/03226/FUL), provision has been made for cycle storage and amenity space has been improved.

However a number of significant concerns still remain namely:

  • the building is still oversized for the site and the design is unsympathetic in style in comparison to existing buildings
  • there is no allowance for car parking on the site, the area is already congested and the site is near a busy road (Queen Margaret Drive)
  • the building will still overshadow a popular children’s playpark near to North Kelvin Primary School and construction will disrupt the use and amenity of the play park.

We support sustainable development of this site but we do not think the proposal as presented addresses this. In our opinion the developer has not addressed the vast majority of reasons for refusal previously given in relation to the previous proposal (21/03226/FUL).

Therefore we would urge the Council to reject this application.
