North Kelvin post-Christmas health walk, 30 December 2023

We are holding a post-Christmas walk to Kelvingrove Park, due to our walkers’ demand!

Meeting point

When: Saturday 30th December, 2pm

Where: Queen Margaret Bridge at the top of Queen Margaret Road (directly across from our noticeboard)

Route

The walk will go via the Kelvin Walkway to Kelvingrove Park, then up to the Park Circus area (Lord Roberts Statue) and then clockwise around the periphery of the park, over Kelvin Way, past the rear of the Art Galleries to Dumbarton Road, then across the bridge inside the park and though the new section of Glasgow University (Western Infirmary site) and finally up Byres Road and Queen Margaret Drive to the bridge.

The walk is 4.6 km (2.9 miles) and will take around 1 hour.

Please wear clothes appropriate for chilly wet weather. The main hazard is wet and rotting leaves underfoot. We will cross University Avenue and Great Western Road at the controlled crossings.

The second quarter of the walk, from where we enter the park at Gibson St to Park Circus is steadily steep – it will get the heart and lungs pumping, but you get rewarded with the view from the statue!

This is a great chance to enjoy our local greenspace and meet people, old and new. We may not get the snow in the photo but hopefully some winter merriment just the same!

Remember…

★ Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather

★ Walkers needing 1:1 support should bring a buddy with them to help

★ Children must be accompanied by an adult

Everyone welcome!
