NKCC health walk 11 July

Our next walk is on Saturday 11 July 2026. We will walk down to the Clyde to see the new street art under the Kingston Bridge and some of the new sculptures on the Clyde.

We will go via Kelvingrove Park down to the river as far as the Clutha (with an optional extension to Glasgow Green) and then back to St Enoch underground where we will end. This walk is one-way as it’s just too far to walk both ways! You can then get the underground back to the West End if you wish.

Meeting point

Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our noticeboard.

About the walk

The route is 5.48km or 3.41 miles.

Access/safety

There are steps under George VI Bridge, but these can be avoided by sticking to the bike route instead of the footpath.

This route is largely along a key bike route, so there will probably be a lot of bikes.

The route in detail

Walk along Queen Margaret Road, Doune Quadrant, to Belmont Street. Down to Great Western Road, Bank Street, Kelvin Way, cutting down into the Park at the first entrance, over the bridge, past the pond, towards the playground and cafe and out onto North Claremont Street.

Claremont Street, Berkley Street, Elderslie Street to the Pyramid, Argyle Street, Little Street, onto the footpath along the Expressway to the bridge over the Expressway (to beside Warroch Street) which takes you on the path parallel to the Kingston Bridge and North Street. This is where we will see the murals.

Down to The Swimmer mural crossing Anderston Quay and onto the footpath along the Clyde parallel to the Broomielaw where we will see some of the new sculptures.

Here we could either go under King George IV Bridge where there are steps or stick to the bike route which goes up a ramp by the casino, crosses the bridge and wiggles back to the same path.

Along the river until Clyde Street where we will come up onto the road, cross and walk back to Dixon Street, cross Howard Street to St Enoch Square where we will get the underground (if you wish to return to the start)

There is an optional extension along the river slightly further before turning back as far as Glasgow Green if you wish to see the final 2 sculptures.

There is no need to book – you can just come along on the day.

Remember…

★ Please wear comfortable shoes

★ Dress for the weather and consider bringing drinking water

★ Walkers needing 1:1 support should bring a buddy with them to help

★ Children must be accompanied by an adult
