NKCC health walk 12 April

Saturday 12 April 2025: health walk to the Walled Garden in the grounds of Gartnavel Royal Hospital.

Meeting point

Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our noticeboard.

Route

The route begins on the Kelvin Walkway then goes across the Ha'penny Bridge through the Arboretum on to Kirklee Road. From there we'll pass the school and go into Bellshaugh Gardens. We'll walk up the gardens past the Julian Allotments till we get to Cleveden Road, then on to Gt Western Road and then Gartnavel.

From there we'll go up to Gartnavel Royal Hospital, half of which is being demolished, walk through to the back of the hospital and turn right on to the Walled Garden. After we've seen the garden we can walk on to another part of the hospital grounds where there is a community garden and plots.

This is mainly a flat route, but there are a few paths up and down in the hospital grounds.

The walk is roughly 4 miles (6.44km).

There are coffee shops within the various buildings of Gartnavel General.

Registration

There is no need to book – you can just come along on the day.

However, if you haven’t done so already, it would be helpful if you could record your participation by entering your data on this registration link. (This needs to be done only once.)

Remember…

★ Please wear comfortable shoes

★ Dress for the weather and consider bringing drinking water

★ Walkers needing 1:1 support should bring a buddy with them to help

★ Children must be accompanied by an adult
