NKCC health walk to Loading Bay skatepark

Destination of our walk on 5 April is the Loading Bay skatepark.

Meeting point

Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our noticeboard.

About the walk

We will walk to the Loading Bay skatepark where we can visit the cafe (and watch people do some impressive things with skateboards and bikes) before retuning.

The walk is slightly longer than usual at 7.05km or 4.38 miles (about 2 hrs).

There is also an option to stop at the Gathering Ground Cafe on the return route if you need additional caffeine!

The route in detail

Walk along Queen Margaret Road, Doune Quadrant, Striven Gardens, Raeberry Street. Cross Maryhill Road at the lights, Trossachs Street. Cross at the lights and join the canal tow path. Walk along the canal to Spiers Wharf. Up to North Canal Bank Street, and onto Borron Street to the Loading Bay.

Then back via Harvey Street, Mary Street, down to Spiers Wharf and along the canal, crossing at the bridge at the National Theatre of Scotland and walking back along that side of the river until the Claypits Footbridge, back down to Garscube Road, along Garscube Road, up to Maryhill Road, crossing at Braeside Street Gardens, Braeside Street, Lyndhurst Gardens, Wilton Street and back to Queen Margaret Drive.

Access/safety

The route is all on paths or pavements and is step free (although there are some kerbs without dropped edges). There may be some uneven paths.

Registration

There is no need to book – you can just come along on the day.

However, if you haven’t done so already, it would be helpful if you could record your participation by entering your data on this registration link. (This needs to be done only once.)

Remember…

★ Please wear comfortable shoes

★ Dress for the weather and consider bringing drinking water

★ Walkers needing 1:1 support should bring a buddy with them to help

★ Children must be accompanied by an adult
