NKCC health walk, 17 Oct
Meeting point
Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our noticeboard.
About the walk
It is 6km or 3.73 miles.
Access/safety
There are some steps down to the river at the start. There are a few hills including the one in Kelvingrove Park.
There are works ongoing on the Kelvin walkway to fell trees which we may need to avoid, but at time of writing it looked clear. There are some roadworks which we may need to be careful of.
The route in detail
We walk down Queen Margaret Road and take the sloped steps down to the river. From there we will walk along the river to Kelvingrove Park, where we will take the path that leads to the top of the hill.
We will walk along the top to exit the Park on Claremont Terrace. We will walk along to Woodside Terrace, Woodside Cresent to the bridge over the motorway where we will cross to Renfrew Street.
Then we go along Renfrew Street past Glasgow School of Art to turn at Dalhousie Street past Garnethill Park, down Rose Street, down to Cowcaddens underpass to Dundasvale Road.
From there we have the option to go up to the gardens on top of the flats and then under the road at the underpass (under Dobbie’s Loan, alongside Garscube Road) before walking up and over the footbridge towards Braid Square and past North Woodside Leisure Centre, Braid Street, North Woodside Road, crossing Maryhill Road, walking through the Napiershall Park, Mount Street, Raeberry Street, Striven Gardens, Doune Gardens, Queen Margaret Road.
