NKCC health walk 3 Oct
Meeting point
Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our noticeboard.
About the walk
Earlier this year, the Community Council formed a Heritage Group to research the history of North Kelvin. The Heritage Group hope that some of the research could be supplemented by walks which identify features of the local history.
The route in detail
The route of the walk will take us up Queen Margaret Drive to Maryhill Road and across to Bilsland Drive, which marks the western boundary of North Kelvin.
From Bilsland Drive we turn into Murano St, where there were large industrial premises, cross Firhill Road and follow the footpath between Panmure St and the canal, at the Timber Basin to the new bridge at The Claypits which makes the eastern boundary of NK.
We cross the bridge and go along the towpath past the football stadium to Firhill Road.
We turn left down Firhill Road and cross into Firhill St. We go down Firhill St to Garscube Road, right along Garscube Road and right into Sandbank St.
We rejoin Firhill Road and turn left as far as Northpark St. We walk down Northpark St to Maryhill Road, turn right and walk to the crossing point at Braeside St Community Garden, cross and continue along Maryhill Road to the Fire Station and back to Queen Margaret Drive.
