NKCC health walk, 4 April

Our next walk, on Saturday, 4 April 2026, will go to a building that no longer exists – Partick Castle! We will go via the Park and Kelvin Hall and back via the University.

Meeting point

Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our noticeboard.

About the walk

The walk is 5.24km or 3.26 miles. However, there is the option to do half of the walk and get the underground back from Kelvin Hall rather than walking the return leg.

Access/safety

The route is largely step free. There is bit of a hill at the University for those doing the return leg. There are some areas where the tree roots have made tarmac lumpy beside the river.

Full details of the route

From Queen Margaret Road along Queen Margaret Drive. Hamilton Drive, Great Western Road, Bank Street, Kelvin Way, into the Kelvingrove Art Gallery car park and along the path that side of the river, cross Dumbarton Road, Bunhouse Road, Old Dumbarton Road, Benalder Street, Beith Street, crossing at Lidl to go back along the other side.

There is an option to cut the walk short here – to walk up Beith Street to Dumbarton Road to get the underground at Kelvin Hall.

For those doing the return leg: Benalder Street, Castle Street, Dunaskin Street, Thurso Street, Dumbarton Road, up through the uni at the Robertson Building, South Front, Professor Square, North Front, cross University Avenue, Hillhead Street, Great George Street, Cecil Street, cross Great Western Road at the lights, Buckingham Street, Hamilton Drive, Queen Margaret Drive, Queen Margaret Road.

Registration

There is no need to book – you can just come along on the day.

Remember…

★ Please wear comfortable shoes

★ Dress for the weather and consider bringing drinking water

★ Walkers needing 1:1 support should bring a buddy with them to help

★ Children must be accompanied by an adult
