NKCC health walk, 8 Aug

Our next walk is on Saturday 8 August 2026. We will track the path of the River Kelvin out to Cluny Park. We will walk through the Botanics, Dawsholm Park, the West of Scotland Science Park and out to Cluny Park at the edge of Bearsden, then come back by bus.

Meeting point

Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our noticeboard.

About the walk

This walk is one way, as it is too long to do both ways. One way is 5.2km or 3.23 miles.

There is a bus stop at Cluny Park which offers buses back along Maryhill Road (the 60 and 17 stop here).

Access/safety

The route is all on surfaced paths without steps. There may be some uneven ground on the paths and branches overhead.

The route in detail

The route mostly follows the Kelvin Walkway all the way. From the meeting point we will walk to the entrance to the Botanics (by the toilets) and walk through the Botanics to the back gate on Ford Road, down Ford Road and through the Botanics Arboretum.

Along the river walkway, crossing over Kelvindale Road, under the aqueduct, under Cowal Road, and up through Dawsholm to the Science Park.

Sticking to the main path to the left at the Science Park, curving round to the way through the hedge by the Garscube Sports Complex, crossing the Kelvin at the Bridge and turning right towards Maryhill Road at Cluny Park where we will finish.

Registration

There is no need to book – you can just come along on the day.

Remember…

★ Please wear comfortable shoes

★ Dress for the weather and consider bringing drinking water

★ Walkers needing 1:1 support should bring a buddy with them to help

★ Children must be accompanied by an adult
